“Man Caught on CCTV Misbehaving with Woman’s Body During Post-Mortem”

In a recent development in Madhya Pradesh’s Burhanpur district, a disturbing incident from a year ago was captured on CCTV footage. The footage revealed a man engaging in inappropriate behavior with the body of a woman undergoing a post-mortem examination at the Khaknar Community Health Centre. Police have taken the accused into custody following his identification.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Antar Singh Kanesh confirmed that the incident, which occurred at around 6:45 am on April 18, 2024, was reported by Dr. Adya Dawar, a medical officer at the health center. Dr. Dawar filed a formal complaint on October 7, 2025, after the footage came to light.

The footage depicts the man dragging the woman’s body from a stretcher within the hospital premises. In response to the complaint, the Khaknar Police initiated legal action under Section 297 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which pertains to the desecration of human remains.

Acting on directives from Superintendent of Police Devendra Patidar and Sub-Divisional Officer (Police) Nirbhay Singh Alawa, a team led by Station House Officer Abhishek Jadhav successfully identified the suspect as Nilesh Bhilala, a 25-year-old resident of Tangiyapat village in the Bhouraghat area. Bhilala was apprehended and admitted to the crime during interrogation. He was subsequently presented in a local court in Burhanpur.

Authorities revealed that the investigation is ongoing to determine how the accused gained access to the post-mortem section of the health center. The police are diligently working to uncover all relevant details in this case.
