Kokuyo Co., Ltd. Rebrands Indian Subsidiary to Kokuyo Workplace India Limited

Japanese furniture and stationery powerhouse Kokuyo Co., Ltd. has finalized the rebranding process of its Indian subsidiary, HNI India, now known as Kokuyo Workplace India Limited (Kokuyo India).

This strategic shift is part of the company’s efforts to bolster its presence in India’s expanding office furniture market and achieve a growth target of 15–20% by FY25, with accelerated expansion anticipated post full integration.

The rebranding signifies a significant milestone in Kokuyo’s strategy to position India as a central hub for its operations in the Asia-Pacific region. This development follows Kokuyo’s acquisition of HNI India earlier this year.

By merging Japanese artistry with India’s vibrant market landscape, the company aims to drive growth through innovative designs and customer-centric solutions. Karan Sachdev, the Managing Director of Kokuyo India, emphasized that the rebranding signifies not just a new identity but a revitalized mission. The goal is to combine Japanese design precision with India’s market flexibility to establish adaptable, sustainable, and human-centric work environments, marking a new phase in the journey towards becoming Asia’s top player by 2030.

Kokuyo India’s expansion plans include deepening its footprint in major metropolitan areas and emerging business hubs by 2030. The company will showcase its new identity at Orgatec India 2025, the nation’s largest workplace innovation trade fair in Mumbai.

In a first for India, Kokuyo will introduce its range of Japanese products, aligning with its global design ethos focused on well-being and collaboration. Operating a 350,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility in Nagpur, the company intends to make further investments in design innovation and sustainable manufacturing under its “Make in India, for the World” vision.

The global office furniture market is anticipated to grow at a CAGR of 6–8% until 2030, with the Asia-Pacific region contributing more than a quarter of total revenues. India continues to be a high-growth market due to corporate expansions, hybrid work setups, and emphasis on ergonomic designs.

With a portfolio that includes renowned brands like Camlin, Lamex, ACTUS, ESTIC, and Formax, Kokuyo India aims to blend Japanese minimalism with Indian adaptability, reshaping workspaces to promote productivity and comfort.
