In a surprising incident caught on a live microphone during a Gaza-focused summit, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto shifted the conversation towards business by expressing interest in meeting US President Donald Trump’s son, Eric. This interaction occurred right after Trump’s address to global leaders following the announcement of a ceasefire in Gaza.
Video evidence captures the moment when both leaders seemed unaware of being recorded. Prabowo mentioned a region’s lack of safety and security before inquiring, “Can I meet Eric?” Trump responded affirmatively, saying, “I’ll have Eric call. Should I arrange that? He’s such a good boy. I’ll have Eric call.”
Prabowo further mentioned finding a better place for the meeting, to which Trump assured again, “I’ll have Eric call you.” Prabowo sought clarification, asking, “Eric or Don Jr.”
Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr hold executive vice president positions at the Trump Organization, which engages in various business sectors such as real estate, hospitality, and blockchain ventures. The organization currently operates a golf club near Jakarta and has future plans for properties in Indonesia, including a resort in Bali.
It remains uncertain whether the conversation alluded to the Trump Organization or potential business engagements involving the president’s family. Trump, upon resuming office, has faced increased scrutiny regarding conflicts of interest related to his business dealings. Despite delegating management responsibilities to his children, concerns persist among ethics experts who suggest that previous arrangements during his initial term did not entirely mitigate potential conflicts.
