US authorities have apprehended a 23-year-old individual in connection with the fatal shooting of an Indian student from Hyderabad in Dallas, Texas. The suspect, identified as Richard Florez, allegedly shot 28-year-old Chandrashekar Pole during his part-time shift at a gas station on Eastchase Parkway before fleeing the scene.
Chandrashekar Pole, a native of Hyderabad’s LB Nagar, had completed his Bachelor’s in Dental Surgery (BDS) before relocating to Dallas for further studies. He was working at the gas station to support himself financially.
Following the tragic incident, former Telangana minister and BRS MLA T Harish Rao expressed deep sorrow over Pole’s untimely death. Rao visited the victim’s family in Hyderabad to offer his condolences and called for the repatriation of Pole’s remains to Hyderabad for the final rites.
Revanth Reddy, also mourning the loss, pledged full support to the grieving family and assured cooperation in bringing back Pole’s body. The Consulate General of India in Houston stated that they were liaising with the family and local authorities to facilitate the repatriation process and extended condolences over the unfortunate demise.
Pole had previously worked as a data analyst at American Express in Chennai from 2021 to 2023 and as a programmer analyst at Hitachi Energy in Bengaluru from 2020 to 2021.
