Google’s Gemini 2.5 Flash technology has been causing a stir online lately. The internet was abuzz with Nano Banana trends, whether it be 3D figurines or 4K portraits. Google has now officially released Gemini 2.5 Flash to the public, and CEO Sundar Pichai is looking forward to seeing how developers leverage it to unleash their creativity.
Sundar Pichai recently shared Google’s announcement tweet for Gemini 2.5 Flash, expressing his excitement by stating, “Developers – the ultimate image editing + generation model is now GA.” He also encouraged developers to ‘Go bananas’ with the new engine, possibly in a nod to the Nano Banana phenomenon.
In addition to enabling AI-driven image generation, Gemini Flash 2.5 Flash allows users to seamlessly blend multiple images while maintaining coherence. Google has enhanced Nano Banana with support for a variety of aspect ratios, including landscape ratios like 21:9, 16:9, 4:3, and 3:2, as well as square, portrait, and flexible ratios.
Google touts that the expanded aspect ratio support opens up a world of creative possibilities, spanning from portraits to social media content to cinematic landscapes. Developers can access the Gemini 2.5 Flash engine on Google AI Studio, Gemini API, and Vertex AI for enterprise applications.
Nano Banana also offers features such as GIF creation, enabling users to transform images into GIFs using AI. Additionally, users can utilize the ‘infinitely zoom’ feature to enhance any image with AI.
Within Google AI Studio, developers can leverage 2.5 Flash in its ‘build mode’ to develop AI-powered applications from a single prompt, with the capability to transfer creations to GitHub for further collaboration.
India has emerged as a global leader in Nano Banana usage, driven by the widespread adoption of viral social media trends. Notably, Nano Banana is now accessible on WhatsApp through the Perplexity chatbot, and Adobe has integrated Nano Banana into Photoshop via its generative fill function.
