Barcelona’s Lewandowski Out Injured Before El Clasico

FC Barcelona has been dealt a significant setback as their key striker, Robert Lewandowski, will be sidelined due to a left thigh muscle injury sustained while on international duty with Poland. The 37-year-old has suffered a muscle injury in the biceps femoris of his left thigh, and the club has stated that his recovery timeline will depend on the progression of the injury.

This injury comes at a crucial time for Barcelona as they gear up for the highly anticipated El Clasico against Real Madrid on October 26. Although the club has not specified when Lewandowski will return, reports from Spanish media indicate that he could be out of action for four to six weeks, casting doubt on his availability for the showdown with their rivals.

Lewandowski played a full match and scored during Poland’s recent World Cup qualifying victory over Lithuania. Despite appearing fit during the game, scans conducted upon his return to Barcelona revealed the severity of the injury.

With Lewandowski’s absence, coach Hansi Flick faces additional challenges as he already has several players dealing with injuries, including Raphinha, Gavi, and Dani Olmo. Furthermore, goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen is still recovering from back surgery and remains unavailable.

However, Barcelona may receive a boost with the potential return of Lamine Yamal and Fermin Lopez after the international break. Both players are expected to resume training and could play in upcoming matches.

Lewandowski has been a crucial player for Barcelona this season, scoring four goals in nine appearances for the club and two goals for Poland. His absence will be felt, especially as Barcelona aims to close the gap behind Real Madrid in the La Liga standings.

As El Clasico approaches, Flick faces the challenge of reshaping his attacking lineup and maintaining momentum in both domestic and European competitions.
