A tragic incident occurred in Tirupattur, Tamil Nadu, where a two-year-old girl named Hari Varshini lost her life when a section of her house wall collapsed during heavy rainfall. The child was playing when the wall suddenly gave way at around 8:30 am. She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment but unfortunately passed away at 3 pm.
Authorities mentioned that the house was an old structure that had been further weakened by continuous rains, ultimately leading to the wall’s collapse. This unfortunate event follows another recent incident in Chennai, where a two-year-old girl drowned in rainwater in a vacant plot near her home.
In Mangadu, Tamil Nadu, a similar tragedy occurred when a child fell into rainwater accumulated in a lower-level empty plot due to an elevated road, resulting in her untimely death. Her parents have lodged a case under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (BNSS) for further investigation.
Moreover, in Cuddalore, heavy rains caused a house wall to collapse, claiming the lives of a 70-year-old woman at the scene and her 40-year-old daughter who later succumbed to injuries in the hospital. This incident occurred on Wednesday at around 10:30 am.
