Amidst a flurry of flagship releases in the Indian smartphone market, including the OnePlus 15 and the iQOO 15, two companies, Nothing and Lava, have unveiled their latest offerings in the mid-range segment. Lava introduced the Agni 4, featuring an aluminum build and MediaTek Dimensity 8350 SoC, while Nothing launched the Phone 3a Lite, its most budget-friendly device under the Nothing brand yet.
Both smartphones are competitively priced under Rs 25,000, creating a dilemma for potential buyers. After extensive use of both the Nothing Phone 3a Lite and the Lava Agni 4, we highlight the key distinctions between these two mid-range devices.
In terms of design, the Nothing Phone 3a Lite boasts a distinctive transparent back design with a flat frame and a Glyph Light for notifications. On the other hand, the Lava Agni 4 sports a more refined aluminum frame and a glass back, exuding a simple yet elegant look highlighted by its capsule-shaped camera module.
When it comes to displays, both phones feature AMOLED screens, with the Phone 3a Lite offering a larger 6.77-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate, while the Lava Agni 4 comes with a slightly smaller 6.67-inch AMOLED display. The Nothing device boasts a higher peak brightness of 3,000 nits compared to the Agni 4’s 2,400 nits, although the latter offers a sharper 1.5K resolution and thinner bezels.
In terms of performance, the Lava Agni 4 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 5G chipset, delivering impressive performance with an AnTuTu score exceeding 1.4 million and incorporating a VC liquid cooling system. In contrast, the Nothing Phone 3a Lite is equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro chip, offering slightly lower performance but at a more affordable price point.
Camera configurations differ significantly between the two devices, with the Phone 3a Lite featuring a triple rear camera setup and a 16-megapixel front camera, while the Lava Agni 4 comes with a dual rear camera setup and a 50-megapixel front camera.
Both smartphones pack a 5,000mAh battery, with the Lava Agni 4 supporting faster 66W fast charging compared to the Nothing Phone 3a Lite’s 33W charging capability. Notably, the Phone 3a Lite does not include a charger in the box.
On the software front, the Lava Agni 4 runs on Android 15 with a clean UI, while the Nothing Phone 3a Lite operates on Nothing OS 3.5, offering enhanced customization options.
In terms of pricing, the Nothing Phone 3a Lite starts at Rs 20,999 for the 8GB/128GB variant and Rs 22,999 for the 256GB variant, with additional savings available through bank offers. The Lava Agni 4 is priced at Rs 24,999 for the sole 8GB/256GB model, with a bank offer reducing the price to Rs 22,999.
The Lava Agni 4 is currently available for purchase, whereas the Nothing Phone 3a Lite is set to hit the shelves on December 5.
