“Dravid Credits Rohit Sharma for India’s T20 World Cup Win”

Former India coach Rahul Dravid has acknowledged Rohit Sharma for transforming India’s mindset in white-ball cricket, leading them to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup. Dravid and Rohit spearheaded a new era in white-ball cricket for the Indian team by adopting a more aggressive playing style.

This shift was evident during the 2023 World Cup, where Rohit’s leadership propelled the team to the final. Subsequently, Rohit played a crucial role in securing India’s triumph in the T20 World Cup 2024, ending a 17-year drought in the format. During an episode of ‘Breakfast with Champions’, Dravid revealed that upon his arrival as coach, he engaged in extensive discussions with Rohit regarding the team’s strategic direction in white-ball cricket.

Dravid expressed his satisfaction with India’s adoption of an aggressive approach under Rohit’s captaincy. He praised Rohit for steering the team towards a more positive and aggressive style of play, emphasizing the evolution of the game and India’s influence on the T20 cricket landscape.

In a notable transition, following his retirement from T20Is post the 2024 World Cup and subsequently exiting Tests in 2025, Rohit’s approach in ODI series in Australia shifted towards accumulating runs rather than immediate aggression. Notably, in the second and third ODIs against Australia, Rohit adopted a patient approach before launching an attack on the bowlers, resulting in scores of 73 and an unbeaten 121, respectively. Rohit’s stellar performance in Australia propelled him to the top of the ICC ODI rankings.

Rohit is set to showcase his skills in the upcoming South Africa ODIs scheduled for November, continuing his impressive form.
