Medical student airlifted from Kazakhstan for critical care in Jaipur

A 22-year-old medical student pursuing an MBBS degree from Rajasthan, who had been in a critical condition in Kazakhstan due to a brain stroke, was successfully transferred to Jaipur on Monday. Rahul Ghosalya, a resident of Shahpura in Jaipur and a student in Astana since 2021, experienced a brain stroke on October 8 and had been receiving ventilator support in a local hospital.

Following the medical emergency, he was airlifted to Jaipur in an air ambulance and immediately admitted to the Medical Intensive Care Unit at SMS Hospital. A team of medical professionals, led by Dr. Deepak Maheshwari, the Principal of SMS Medical College, has taken charge of his treatment. The hospital has also established a dedicated four-member team to oversee his medical care.

The transfer process was facilitated by a special critical care ambulance and a medical team from SMS Hospital. Prior to the evacuation, Rahul’s parents had reached out for help on social media, appealing to both the central and state governments for assistance in bringing their son back to India for advanced medical treatment. Various social organizations also supported the family’s plea for his repatriation.

The medical team is now actively engaged in providing the necessary treatment and care for Rahul’s recovery.
