Iran’s Supreme Leader Rejects Trump’s Offer for Talks

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has dismissed an offer for renewed discussions from US President Donald Trump and refuted Trump’s claim that the US has obliterated Iran’s nuclear capabilities. The recent indirect nuclear talks between Tehran and Washington concluded with a 12-day air conflict in June, during which Israeli and US forces targeted Iranian nuclear facilities.

Khamenei criticized Trump’s approach, stating that genuine deals should not be coerced or predetermined but rather negotiated in good faith. Trump’s proposal for a potential peace agreement with Tehran was mentioned during a speech to the Israeli parliament last week, following a ceasefire in Gaza involving Israel and Hamas.

Responding to Trump’s assertion of destroying Iran’s nuclear industry, Khamenei dismissed the claim and emphasized that Iran’s nuclear activities are a matter unrelated to the US. Western nations have accused Iran of clandestinely pursuing nuclear weapons through uranium enrichment, a charge that Iran vehemently denies, citing its nuclear program’s peaceful energy objectives.
