“Former US President Biden Undergoing Radiation for Metastatic Prostate Cancer”

Former US President Joe Biden is currently undergoing radiation therapy as part of his treatment for metastatic prostate cancer that was diagnosed in May, his spokesperson confirmed on Saturday.

The spokesperson stated that Biden, who is set to turn 83 next month, is receiving radiation therapy and hormone treatment for the aggressive form of prostate cancer that has spread to his bones. His medical team indicated that the cancer is hormone-sensitive and likely to respond well to treatment.

In September, Biden underwent Mohs surgery to remove cancerous skin cells from his forehead, a common procedure for skin cancer. His physician confirmed the successful removal of all cancerous tissue, requiring no further treatment. Following the surgery, Biden was seen with a large bandage on his forehead during public appearances.

After announcing his prostate cancer diagnosis, Biden expressed gratitude for the support received, acknowledging the impact of cancer on individuals. His office had previously mentioned exploring various treatment options for effective management. Oncologists noted that due to the cancer’s metastatic nature, it could have remained undiagnosed for an extended period.

Men in Biden’s age group typically do not undergo regular prostate cancer screenings. The American Cancer Society recommends screening every two years for men in their 50s and 60s. It remains unclear whether Biden underwent prostate cancer screening during his last medical examination while in office last year.

Biden concluded his presidency in January after suspending his re-election campaign and endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris for another term. Throughout his presidency, Biden faced questions regarding his age and fitness for office, which he and his family consistently refuted.
