Reliance Jio and Google have joined forces to introduce artificial intelligence tools to Indian consumers. Through the Google AI Pro plan, valued at Rs 35,100 per user, select Jio 5G customers will gain complimentary access to premium AI services for a specific period, marking a significant AI service rollout in India.
The partnership, revealed by Reliance Industries and Google, is aimed at enhancing accessibility to AI tools in Indian households. Initially, the free plan will cater to individuals aged between 18 and 25 who are enrolled in Jio’s unlimited 5G packages. A nationwide expansion is on the horizon, with the company pledging swift implementation to reach all eligible users.
Eligible Jio subscribers will enjoy an 18-month subscription to Google AI Pro at no cost. The plan encompasses cutting-edge features like Gemini 2.5 Pro, Nano Banana, Veo 3.1 for image and video AI generation, Notebook LM for study assistance, and 2 TB cloud storage. Users can activate the plan via the MyJio app, where their eligibility will be automatically verified.
The collaboration between Reliance and Google signifies a strategic move to propel India into the next phase of digital development. Furthermore, Reliance and Google Cloud will team up to introduce advanced AI hardware accelerators, Tensor Processing Units (TPUs), in India. These chips are crucial for training and deploying large-scale AI models, potentially benefiting startups and researchers in the AI sector.
