In Garhwa district of Jharkhand, two young tribal girls were sexually assaulted following a kidnapping incident. The girls were abducted in a Scorpio vehicle and then taken to a nearby forest, where they were subjected to multiple acts of rape by four men. The unfortunate event took place during the Navratri festivities.
According to the victims’ statement, while returning from a local fair in Nagari village with some acquaintances during Navratri, a Scorpio car approached them. The girls were forcibly taken into the vehicle by four men who then drove towards the forest. The male companions of the girls who tried to intervene were allegedly beaten and forced to flee.
Although one of the girls managed to persuade the attackers to release her, the other two were taken further into the forest and sexually assaulted. The survivors were able to make it back home the following day and narrated the harrowing experience to their families. Subsequently, a formal complaint was filed by their family members at the Ranka police station.
Prompt action was taken by the police, who registered a case based on the victims’ report and apprehended one of the accused individuals, who has been incarcerated. The other three suspects are currently evading arrest. Authorities have named Mandish Yadav, Shankar Yadav, Om Prakash Yadav, and an unidentified individual in the FIR.
Law enforcement officials have assured the public that efforts are underway to locate the remaining perpetrators and ensure they face legal consequences.
